Notes bemywine : For this Wijnbergperzik, we macerated vineyard peaches from the field of Ludo Rosseels, Gelrode, Brabant, Flanders. For macerating and blending, we used one- and two-year lambikken, originating from eleven different brews and five different barrels. The peaches macerated for more than three months on wooden barrels. The final fruit proportion is 398 grams of vineyard peaches per litre of Wijnbergperzik. About 70% of the cereals for this pure 3 Fonteinen blend used were sourced from our Cereal Collective. Bottled on 07/12/2023.

Ce vin à la personnalité marquée illustre parfaitement cette idée typique de l’appellation qui apporte aux vins persistance et tenue.

The 2022 Morgon Montpelain opens with aromas of spiced blueberries, cassis, peonies and slate. Tightly wound and high in energy, it has a structure of chalky tannins that dust the cheeks and bright acids that create a synergetic resistance along the palate. Medium to full-bodied, generous berry-fruited notes play a supporting role, progressing swiftly along the palate with zippy haste. This wine will surely need a few years to fall into place.

Notes BeMyWine : Issue de la partie Est de la colline du Py, qui domine toute l’appellation, c’est une cuvée issue de vignes de 90 ans, sur le lieu dit « Aux Pierres » dans Javernières, terroir reconnu pour son potentiel bien avant les AOC. Très caillouteux, avec des vignes presque centenaires, il s’agit de vieilles sélections massales de qualité. Cela donne un vin d’une grande densité, profond avec une structure bien présente, portée par un fruit noir avec un équilibre presque salin. Élevé en œuf béton de 30 hl, ce Morgon est taillé pour la garde. Un Desvignes pur et dur avec ce nouveau parcellaire.

From an east-facing parcel of 90-year-old vines, 2021 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières Aux Pierres is also superb, delivering aromas of blackberries, plums, exotic spices and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's seamless and enveloping, with a layered core of fruit that largely conceals its ripe structuring tannins. This bottling, which joined the range last year, is rapidly establishing itself as one of the high points of the portfolio.

The other new red is the 2023 Cáreo, which is a different story from the A Bruxa. It comes from a very old vineyard planted with Mencía, Palomino, Doña Blanca and a little Godello, an ancient, centenary 0.9-hectare plot, where the Mencía has thinner skins, and the tannins are also finer. This is from the same zone as the white Tormenta in San Juan de la Mata, technically a village wine from Arganza, one of the few places in Bierzo that has limestone soils. Part (80%) of the wine fermented in a troncoconic oak vat with 100% full clusters and the rest was destemmed and fermented in bins, then the wine matured in separate 300-liter barrels for 11 months, after which, it was blended and put in amphorae, where it rested for another four months. This has a very focused violet note, also peachy, with a fine texture, with the mouthfeel from the limestone soils. It comes in at 12.9% alcohol with a pH of 5.4. I cannot make up my mind if I prefer this or the new A Bruxa... In any case, these are two superb additions to the portfolio, completing the high end in a stunning vintage. Bravo!! 2,755 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2025.
