The 2022 Morgon Montpelain opens with aromas of spiced blueberries, cassis, peonies and slate. Tightly wound and high in energy, it has a structure of chalky tannins that dust the cheeks and bright acids that create a synergetic resistance along the palate. Medium to full-bodied, generous berry-fruited notes play a supporting role, progressing swiftly along the palate with zippy haste. This wine will surely need a few years to fall into place.

Opening in the glass with notes of cherries, smoky berries, sweet soil tones and burning embers, the 2021 Morgon Côte du Py is medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with good concentration, powdery tannins and a penetrating, saline finish. Despite the challenges of the vintage, the Desvignes family has produced a very classy wine.

The 2022 Morgon Corcelette originates from purchased grapes from a vineyard that sits at 430 meters in altitude on pure granite soil. Entirely destemmed due to hail damage, this has a fresh nose with aromas of elderberries, cherries, white petals, wet stone and brown spices. Medium-bodied, the structure is less defined, with talc-like tannins that daintily frame the fleshy fruit-driven core. Otherwise, the bright acidity uplifts the wine, while its wet-stone salinity becomes the driving force behind a lingering finish.
