Notes BeMyWine : This rare single-variety – Melon à Queue Rouge, a mutated form of Chardonnay – displays a pale gold color with golden highlights. The nose charms with aromas of fresh almond, citrus (lemon, white grapefruit), and a hint of anise, with a saline mineral note in the background. On the palate, the balance lies between lively freshness, voluptuous texture, and a clean, mouthwatering finish reminiscent of stone, with well-integrated acidity. An elegant wine, to be served at 11–13?°C; an excellent companion to grilled fish, shellfish, or pressed cheeses.

The second bottling of the 2023 Cuvée des Docteurs Melon à Queue Rouge Ouillé, bottled in December 2024, is a very perfumed Chardonnay from old vines on gravel soils and a south-facing exposition. Despite the year and the tendency of the place to ripen, the wine is quite light and tender, with notes of white fruit and flowers, harmonious, elegant and clean. It was fully topped up, and there are no traces of flor.
