The 2022 Morgon Côte du Py Les Impénitents stands out as one of the finest from the 2022 vintage, leaping from the glass with aromas of ripe blackberries, candied peel, dried jasmine, rose petals and thyme. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and laced with succulent acids and fine wispy tannins, opening to reveal a layered mid-palate complex with flavor. It has a subtle tension that binds the flesh seamlessly with its structural components. The wine is long on the palate with a persistence of flavor that elegantly fades out on the finish. This is a wine of true harmony.

Moderate wood frames the slighter redder fruit profile that is laced with abundant spice and floral scents along with hints of earth and humus. The medium-bodied flavors are admirably concentrated and refined if a bit less powerful while delivering good length on the precise and well-balanced finish where the wood resurfaces. I very much like the texture and this should age gracefully.

The just-bottled 2022 Querencia Deseya is part of their new organic wines, and this is the old-vine Garnacha from four wines in the range. It was produced with grapes from the Miedes region on red colluvial soils, and the grapes were destemmed but not crushed and fermented at low temperature for 35 days. It matured in 225- and 50-liter barrels during malolactic and then was transferred to stainless steel until bottling in April 2023. Fernando Mora from Cuevas de Arom moved his project into San Alejandro, and I believe this wine is partly his influence as it looks very much like his style. This is pale, aromatic, floral, elegant and pretty, with tons of rose petals and an ethereal palate with ultra fine tannins. This is an awesome wine and value. However, this is still very a small volume; I hope they have the chance to grow, because this will be a wine to buy by the case. If this new wine shows the new direction of the winery, I'm very happy. 4,800 bottles produced.

Notes bemywine : For this Perzik, we macerated peaches from Ludo Rosseels from Gelrode, Vlaams-Brabant, Belgium. Maceration time was four months. For the maceration and the blending, we used lambikken from five different barrels and not less than sixteen different brews. Most lambik was one- and two-years old, and about one third was three years old. This way, the weigthed average age of the blend upon bottling was more than 14 months. The final fruit intensity is about 300 grams of ripe yellow peaches per litre of Perzik. 100% 3 Fonteinen. Bottled on 21/11/2023.
