The nose and palate of the 2022 El Tamboril Tinto are really tight; it's a wine that needs more time (they reckon the 2016 is the one drinking well in 2024). It has a lot of energy and still has some creaminess and spiciness (from the élevage?). It has tons of fine tannins, giving it a powdery, dry texture. It fermented in concrete and oak, trying not to extract, fermenting with some juice without skins, a super infusion with even less extraction than the others as it has natural power. It matured in a 10,000-liter Stockinger oak foudre. 1,334 bottles and 30 magnums were filled in May 2024. This is the wine in the portfolio that needs time in bottle.

Notes BeMyWine : L’Incandescent is a rosé de saignée Grand Cru made from 100 % Pinot Noir from the Verzy vineyards, styled Extra-Brut with a dosage of about 2.5 g/L. It undergoes maceration for around 14 to 19 hours, and is partly vinified in oak barrels and partly in stainless tanks, with malolactic fermentation and ageing on fine lees. On the nose it offers confit red fruits and delicate spice notes, with a fresh, lively palate and a finely chiselled texture. Elegant and characterful, it pairs beautifully from aperitif through to delicate gastronomic dishes.

Subtle though not invisible oak influence is present on the more sauvage-suffused aromas of forest floor, earth and ripe dark currant. The supple, delicious and vibrant middleweight flavors possess a caressing mid-palate that contrasts somewhat with the firm, mildly austere and lightly stony finale. Good quality here.

Notes BeMyWine : Originating from the eastern part of the Py hill, which overlooks the entire appellation, this cuvée comes from 90-year-old vines in the plot known as “Aux Pierres” in Javernières, a terroir recognized for its potential long before the AOCs. Extremely stony, with nearly century-old vines, these are old high-quality massal selections. The result is a wine of great density, deep, with a pronounced structure, supported by dark fruit and an almost saline balance. Aged in 30?hl concrete eggs, this Morgon is built for aging. A pure and uncompromising Desvignes expression with this new single?plot cuvée.

The 2022 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières Aux Pierres is enchanting with a complex nose of ripe blackberries, dark plums, blood orange, anise, wet stones, white musk and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied and with a succulent weave of fruit, the wine is suave, multi-layered and generously upheld by a velvety layer of tannins. The bright acidity paired with the lining of marine-tinged salinity creates a refreshing contrast with the darker notes, and the wine lasts long overall, gracefully concluding with a slow fade of flavor. This is a noble expression of terroir, complex, luscious, balanced, truly captivating.

The 2023 Ploussard Cuvée des Docteurs, produced with grapes from old vines, is very clean and expressive, with raspberry and red fruit notes on the nose and a little shy on the palate, it has settled after a few months in bottle. It has a medium-bodied palate and some tannins and feels a little rustic, varietal and serious. It's a different lot from the young vines, but the label is the same, something quite common in Jura. It was bottled in August 2024.
