Notes BeMyWine : Grown on the “Poussot” plot, this Marne Rouge cuvée comes from thirty-year-old vines rooted in the iridescent marls of the Keuper, whose reddish tones reflect strongly oxidized iron. On the nose, the Trousseau opens with intense fruit: blueberry, strawberry, hints of spices (black pepper, coffee), giving a gourmand touch over a slightly oaky background. On the palate, it is ample and structured, with very fine tannins, supported by a licorice finish and discreet oak that adds depth without masking the fruit. A wine of terroir and character: pairs well with roasted meats or aged cheeses and can age beautifully for several years in the cellar.

The 2023 Arbois Trousseau Cuvée des Geologues Marne Rouge is a little riper and has a touch of earthy rusticity, with a little more structure. It's fresher than the 2022 I tasted last year, with better balance. This comes from a plot planted in the 1980s on red marl soils. 3,000 bottles produced.
