Notes BeMyWine : The “Nonceau” plot, on hillsides of scree, clay matrix, and gray Lias marls, produces a Trousseau with deeply Jura-like character, both mineral and vibrant. On the nose: a seductive blend of ripe red and black fruits (cherry, Morello cherry), soft spices, with a touch of undergrowth developing over time. On the palate, the wine is fresh and fleshy, the tannins supple yet present, balancing structure and finesse for a persistent finish. A wine of immediate pleasure in its youth, but capable of further evolution over several years in the cellar.

The 2021 Arbois Trousseau Cuvée des Geologues Nonceau was sourced from a northeast-facing vineyard that has a very stony soil rich in limestone, on the first terrace, at some 380 meters in altitude; it's a vineyard that delivers good minerality in the wine. Like with all the wines at this address, it fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in used oak foudre. This had a normal maceration, as they haven't done a long-maceration cuvée since 2017. It has a serious nose, a dry and chalky mouthfeel and is a little earthy with some bitter notes in the finish. 2,120 bottles produced.
