Lucien Aviet & Fils Vin Jaune Cuvée de la Confrérie 2016

Price kr701.27
Availability: 5 In Stock
Notes BeMyWine : This 100?% Savagnin Vin Jaune comes from fifty-year-old vines grown on gray Lias marls in Montigny-lès-Arsures. After spontaneous fermentation in large casks, it is aged under a flor veil for 7 years, following Jura traditions. The nose reveals complex aromas of morels, fresh walnuts, raisins, and curry. On the palate, it offers an elegant and vibrant texture, with a persistent finish evoking whisky.

Dégustateur : RP Note : 97+
2016 was a rainy year, and the wines have high acidity, as I could see in the young 2016 Arbois Vin Jaune, with is lively and fresh. It's elegant and balanced, with depth of flavors, layers and layers that unfurl slowly in the glass. It has a bright golden color and an equally bright nose of dried flowers with a peaty side and aromas of nuts and spices, and it's long, tasty and beautifully textured with a chalky feeling. It comes from a lighter year with brightness and freshness. They always say that the wine needs to be in bottle as long as it has been under flor, but I find this quite approachable, though without a doubt, it will gain in complexity and depth with time in bottle and will be able to make old bones.

The 2017 Arbois Vin Jaune was also bottled, so we tasted it next to the 2016. 2017 is a year with more finesse, nuance, subtlety and elegance. The wine has a note of lanolin and rubber (not a negative), with great balance between elegance and power. It's rounder and has subtler acidity than the 2016. It was bottled one month ago and needs to rest a little in bottle. Today, I give the edge to the 2016, which feels livelier.

Price kr365.55
Availability: 8 In Stock
Notes BeMyWine : A Savagnin aged under a flor veil for 4 years in large casks and demi-muids reveals an intense golden color and a complex nose of candied citrus (orange, grapefruit), nuts, raisins, and a touch of spices (curry). On the palate, it offers a full and flavorful texture, lively acidity, and a persistent finish. From fifty-year-old vines planted on iridescent Keuper marls, this wine reflects the Jura terroir. Ideal with aged cheeses, white meats, or sauced dishes.

Dégustateur : RP Note : 94
The 2020 Savagnin Reserve du Caveau had just been bottled when I tasted it in April, and it was expressive and open, with a very classy nose of more mushrooms, walnuts and a touch of curry. It's a little warm and ripe, consistent with the character of the year, with a chalky mouthfeel, salty and tasty. It's clean, long and nicely defined.

Lucien Aviet & Fils Savagnin Cuvée Vénus 2018

Price kr484.92
Availability: 11 In Stock
Notes BeMyWine : The “Vénus” cuvée is a 2018 Savagnin left to ferment for several years, like the “Étrange” for those familiar with this cuvée. Fermentation stopped naturally, leaving residual sugars higher than allowed by the appellation (around 5?g/L), hence its classification as Vin de France. Original and rare!

Dégustateur : RP Note : 96
The 2018 Venus is a Savagnin from 2018 fermented for eight years, but a little more sugar remained than the appellation allows (it has five grams), so it's sold as Vin de France. It has complexity and a faint spicy twist, with notes of dried yellow flowers, serious and not exotic. The palate feels dry, there is no sweetness and it does not reach the complexity, depth and nuance of l'Etrange. It was bottled a couple of weeks before I tasted it, but it feels very balanced and has the stuffing to age nicely in bottle. 2,200 bottles produced.

Lucien Aviet & Fils Trousseau Marne Rouge Cuvée des Géologues 2023

Price kr216.35
Availability: 22 In Stock
Notes BeMyWine : Grown on the “Poussot” plot, this Marne Rouge cuvée comes from thirty-year-old vines rooted in the iridescent marls of the Keuper, whose reddish tones reflect strongly oxidized iron. On the nose, the Trousseau opens with intense fruit: blueberry, strawberry, hints of spices (black pepper, coffee), giving a gourmand touch over a slightly oaky background. On the palate, it is ample and structured, with very fine tannins, supported by a licorice finish and discreet oak that adds depth without masking the fruit. A wine of terroir and character: pairs well with roasted meats or aged cheeses and can age beautifully for several years in the cellar.

Dégustateur : RP Note : 94
The 2023 Arbois Trousseau Cuvée des Geologues Marne Rouge is a little riper and has a touch of earthy rusticity, with a little more structure. It's fresher than the 2022 I tasted last year, with better balance. This comes from a plot planted in the 1980s on red marl soils. 3,000 bottles produced.

The 2017 Savagnin Reserve du Caveau had a long élevage under the effect of flor yeast. Lucien Aviet & Fils Melon à Queue Rouge V.V. Cuvée des Docteurs 2023

Price kr223.81
Availability: 26 In Stock
Notes BeMyWine : This rare single-variety – Melon à Queue Rouge, a mutated form of Chardonnay – displays a pale gold color with golden highlights. The nose charms with aromas of fresh almond, citrus (lemon, white grapefruit), and a hint of anise, with a saline mineral note in the background. On the palate, the balance lies between lively freshness, voluptuous texture, and a clean, mouthwatering finish reminiscent of stone, with well-integrated acidity. An elegant wine, to be served at 11–13?°C; an excellent companion to grilled fish, shellfish, or pressed cheeses.

Dégustateur : RP Note : 93
The second bottling of the 2023 Cuvée des Docteurs Melon à Queue Rouge Ouillé, bottled in December 2024, is a very perfumed Chardonnay from old vines on gravel soils and a south-facing exposition. Despite the year and the tendency of the place to ripen, the wine is quite light and tender, with notes of white fruit and flowers, harmonious, elegant and clean. It was fully topped up, and there are no traces of flor.

Notes BeMyWine : The “Nonceau” plot, on hillsides of scree, clay matrix, and gray Lias marls, produces a Trousseau with deeply Jura-like character, both mineral and vibrant. Lucien Aviet & Fils Trousseau Bruyères Cuvée des Géologues 2023

Price kr208.89
Availability: 22 In Stock
Notes BeMyWine : On the schistous soils and iridescent marls of the “Les Bruyères” plot (Montigny-lès-Arsures), this Trousseau displays a luminous ruby color and a lively nose blending wild strawberry, white pepper, and delicate floral nuances. On the palate, it charms with fine tannins, mineral freshness, and a fluid texture highlighting a straightforward, sincere juice. The tension is present but not excessive, balanced by a crisp fruitiness that lingers into an elegant, subtly spiced finish. A wine with character, which, served around 16?°C, is perfect with roasted white meat or a bold dish that lets Jura’s typicity shine.

Dégustateur : RP Note : 95
The 2023 Arbois Trousseau Cuvée des Geologues Les Bruyères is very pale and ethereal, with a profile of finesse and elegance. The soils here have more marl and tend to produce more elegant wines. 2023 was a warm and solar year, but the wines are not heavy or warm. This has marked acidity and only 12.5% alcohol in a year when the wines had less alcohol and more acidity. It's perfumed, light, clean, elegant and harmonious. It's approachable now but should also age well in bottle. 3,000 bottles. It was bottled in July 2024.

Notes BeMyWine : From young Ploussard vines planted on the iridescent Triassic marls of Montigny-lès-Arsures, this cuvée displays a bright ruby color and an expressive nose combining fresh red fruits and soft spices. On the palate, it blends fine tannins, vibrant freshness, and a silky texture, finishing with a persistent note that reveals the distinctive character of the terroir.

Dégustateur : RP Note : 93
The 2023 Ploussard Cuvée des Docteurs, produced with grapes from old vines, is very clean and expressive, with raspberry and red fruit notes on the nose and a little shy on the palate, it has settled after a few months in bottle. It has a medium-bodied palate and some tannins and feels a little rustic, varietal and serious. It's a different lot from the young vines, but the label is the same, something quite common in Jura. The 2019 Arbois Trousseau Cuvée des Geologues Nonceau was sourced from a 30-year-old northeast-facing vineyard that has a very stony soil rich in limestone, on the first terrace, at some 380 meters in altitude. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in oak foudre. It has a very expressive nose, mineral with very good ripeness and range of aromas and flavors. This should age nicely in bottle. On the palate, it offers a full and flavorful texture, lively acidity, and a persistent finish. From fifty-year-old vines planted on iridescent Keuper marls, this wine reflects the Jura terroir. Dégustateur : RP Note : 95
I tasted again the excellent 2016 Savagnin Reserve du Caveau, a wine that did not make it to the Vin Jaune bottling. It comes from a cooler year with lots of freshness and acidity, and the wine is aging nicely. It's aromatic, varietal and fresh, with some added aromatic complexity that it has gained with the time in bottle. It matured in used 500-liter barrels that are filled to the top initially and then never topped up, so this developed flor and aged under the veil for almost six years. This is a bottling of the more fruit-driven barrels. It has the classical notes of iodine, peat, nuts and spices, in an elegant and subtle way. 2,200 bottles produced.

Notes BeMyWine : This Trousseau cuvée comes from vines planted on the “Ruzard” plot in Montigny-lès-Arsures, on clay soils mixed with flinty stones over iridescent Keuper marls. The nose opens with an expressive bouquet of fresh red fruits (raspberry, blackberry), undergrowth, and soft spices, with a subtle touch of pepper and violet recalling the terroir. On the palate, charm and finesse combine: delicate tannins, supple texture, long finish, with a lively freshness that balances the body. A gastronomic wine, it pairs well with grilled white meats as well as more complex dishes.
