Notes BeMyWine : Originating from the eastern part of the Py hill, which overlooks the entire appellation, this beautiful cuvée reveals a nose with delightful, pronounced notes of licorice. On the palate, it is fairly dense, with luscious fruit framed by fine tannins. A lovely aging potential as a bonus!

Planted on the eastern hillside of the Côte du Py, the 2022 Morgon Côte du Py stands out for its razor-like precision contrasting harmoniously with velvety textures and supple flavors. The wine wafts from the glass with aromas of blueberry coulis, licorice, dried thyme, slate and vine smoke. The bright acids keep the wine's plushy, dark-natured flavors in check, while the firm but refined tannins provide a sturdy backbone. It opens up gracefully on the mid-palate, revealing small pangs of salinity that, in combination with the tannins, draw out the wine and make for a precise, elemental finish. This is a wine to sit with for a while, beautifully done.

The 2020 Savagnin Reserve du Caveau had just been bottled when I tasted it in April, and it was expressive and open, with a very classy nose of more mushrooms, walnuts and a touch of curry. It's a little warm and ripe, consistent with the character of the year, with a chalky mouthfeel, salty and tasty. It's clean, long and nicely defined.
